Merry Christmas Eve!
It’s the last day of BLOGMAS for me, it’s been fun, but I’m glad it’s over!
I had originally planned to theme each week around the advent themes of hope, love, joy, peace. I realise now that to do that I would have needed to plan better, but that’s a thought for next year!
It’s been a weird advent for me. Advent is the preparation time for the light to come, yet I haven’t felt that. The last two months have been full of activity both in work and social time, preparation for the end of the term, not so much preparation for light.
Last night as I realised this. I just took an hour to stop. To reflect. To make time where I hadn’t. My mind had time to reroute some of the Christmas stories I was beginning to write, change perspectives on the scenery and plot.
When I spoke about the hallmark films in 22, I said it often shows love as the message of Christmas. True, but it is just a shadow of Christmas love. The real Christmas love is about unending, undeserved, undiluted love, that came humbly and wasn’t showy (ok so there were angels singing). A love that is powerful, a love that is available.
Whatever your Christmas is like this year,
May the joy of the angels,
the eagerness of the shepherds,
the perseverance of the wise men,
the obedience of Joseph and Mary,
and the peace of the Christ child
be yours this Christmas;
and the blessing of God almighty,
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
be among you and remain with you always.
